The Railway Quilters Group

The group started when two ladies Mary Walker and Mary Lewin made a simple squared patchwork quilt to be raffled to raise money for their Parish church. Finding a shared love of needlework they decided to meet regularly. Mary Walker gathered together others who were also interested in Patchwork & Quilting and opened up her home in the old railway station at Gunton Hall to form the first group. Hence the name.

Over the years the venue has changed but the name has remained as have some of the original members.

We now meet at Overstrand Village Hall on the second and fourth Tuesday in the month from 10am to 12 o’clock. We are a very informal, friendly group of around 20 members who have various levels of expertise from beginners to experienced. We try to be there to help and support each other. Sometimes not always in needlework.
