Overstrand Gardening Club - Press Release

Tuesday 7th February 2012 - commencing at 2.00 pm

Overstrand Gardening Club will hold its first meeting of 2012 in The Parish Hall, Overstrand. There will be a short Annual General Meeting followed by a talk on "Growing Herbs and Their Uses" given by our guest speaker Val Thomas. Visitors are warmly welcome and refreshments will be served. Please note that annual membership fees (£3) are due at this Meeting.

Overstrand Evening Women's Institute

Wednesday 15th February 7.30 pm the Parish Hall, Overstrand

At the February meeting, Mark Webster will talk about The North Norfolk Workout Project. The monthly competition will be A Local Countryside Photograph. Please see the ‘Evening Women’s Institute’ page on this site, for details of future months meetings. Visitors are always made most welcome.

Table-Top Sale / Coffee Morning

Monday 9 April 2012 - 10.00 am to 12.30 pm

This is to boost funds for November's Firework Display. Please support the Village in this endeavour. For further details or to book a table, contact the Clerk on 01263 579463.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Monday 4th June 2012.

Overstrand will be celebrating in grand style. There will be a parade through the High Street, an afternoon of fun and games at the Sports Field and an evening of music. The event will conclude with the ceremonial lighting of a beacon - one of the 2012 beacons being lit around the country. This is a Village event and it is hoped that everyone will join in and support us. Watch this space for further details!

Overstrand Open Gardens 2012

Sunday 17 June 2012 - 10.30 am to 5.00 pm

Something for everyone - 20 Open Gardens with 12 opening for the first time. Six of the gardens were formerly part of The Pleasaunce, which was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and was famous for its Garden of Dreams.

Several of the gardens have surprising features; one garden contains the entrance to a tunnel which used to run under the road! All 20 gardens are very individual displaying a wide variety of styles and planting.

Light refreshments, including home-made cakes by members of the Overstrand Evening WI, will be on sale in the marquee at Overstrand Sports Ground, where there will also be Old Photographs of Overstrand on display and a plant stall.

Tickets with information, map and garden descriptions, for sale on the day at Overstrand Village Sign and from any participating garden. Adults £3.00 accompanied children 16 and under free. Sorry, but no dogs please. All profits will go to Quidenham Children's Hospice (Registered Charity Number 1069284).
